Do you have innovation intent?
Posted by Jeff De Cagna
Storyteller Larry Keeley spoke to us about "innovation intent" as it pertains to regional innovation. Innovation intent is about having a clear point of view about why and how to create a deep, disciplined and systemic collaboration for innovation involving a broad group of stakeholders. It is not about the general or the generic pursuit of innovation, but rather the specific mission to make innovation a workable and sustainable priority.
It seems to me that the notion of innovation intent has implications across the board, and not simply with regard to regional innovation. What particularly resonates with me is the thought that leaders in all contexts must have an understanding of their innovation intent, and while such understanding is going to be based on many factors, I would argue that a basic clarity around values is essential, especially as the number of participants/contributors increases. A shared commitment to values makes pursuing a common mission around innovation possible.
So, what is the innovation intent you hold for your organization?
